Hello, I'mBob Nazro, KC1IUI. I passed my technical exam last December and my general test in January. Studying hard for the Extra exam later this month. My dad is a lifelong Ham, W1RPQ. He's 96 and I wanted to surprise him this Christmas with my license. I'm 63 and live in Oakdale, CT near the casinos. I'm a Systems Engineer with the Navy, working in Newport, RI. Been doing that for about 35 years. I have an ALINCO DR-605 Dual Band radio that I am shopping for an antenna to use in the attic or possibly attached to the roof. I just purchased a TYT MD-2017 handheld unit and I am trying to get that setup, programmed and install a codeplug to get me on the air. I have requewsted the DMR-MARC registration and hope to get that tomorrow. Looking forward to contact folks in the near future. I will say that Ham radio has come a long way from helping my Dad back in the 60's.
My wife and I have a horse farm and board horses, as well as a few of our own. As the chief sanitation engineer I keep pretty busy cleaning up around the place.
